Sleep Dart field guide

Sleep Dart quick answer

Sleep Dart is control ammunition for the Blowgun, not a weapon that works on its own. The current crafting route starts with a Sleep Potion and uses the Repackager to turn that potion into five darts. Bring it when temporarily stopping a valid target creates time for a rescue, a task interaction, or a clean exit. Do not plan around an exact sleep duration: effect timing and valid targets are patch-sensitive and should be checked in a low-risk run before the team commits valuable loot.

Prepare the complete Blowgun loadout

The most common preparation mistake is banking darts without confirming that somebody is carrying a Blowgun. Treat the launcher and ammunition as one kit. Before leaving the gnome world, assign the Blowgun to the player who can hold a clear angle while another player interacts with the objective. Put the darts where that player can reach them without reorganizing a full inventory during pressure. If the route does not need control, keep the potion or materials for a later run instead of converting them automatically.

A five-dart batch is a limited route resource. Agree on what deserves a shot before entering the house. A rescue opening, a required hostile route, or a narrow exit is a stronger use than testing the dart on the first harmless target. This keeps the control tool available when the run becomes difficult.

Use a control-window workflow

Call the target, confirm that teammates are outside the firing line, then shoot from a position that still has an exit. Once the effect lands, act immediately: revive, finish the nearby interaction, pass the blocked doorway, or create distance. Sleep is valuable because it changes the route for a short period; standing still to watch the target wastes the advantage. If the hit does not apply the expected effect, retreat first and record the target and patch version rather than spending the rest of the batch in panic.

Solo and co-op timing

Solo players need a conservative angle because shooting, confirming the effect, and completing the objective all belong to one person. Keep the escape route behind you and avoid firing from a dead end. In co-op, split the job: one player carries the Blowgun and watches the target, one completes the interaction or rescue, and the remaining players keep the exit clear. A short verbal countdown prevents a teammate from waking or blocking the same target with an unnecessary close-range attack.

Targets, misses, and ammo economy

Use Sleep Dart only on targets the current build accepts as valid blow-dart targets. The data confirms the delivery method, but it does not justify a promise that every NPC, animal, hazard, or boss-like entity can be slept. Test unknown targets away from a clean three-task run. A missed shot, blocked line, or unsupported target should change the plan immediately. Do not keep firing simply because four darts remain; move to the fallback route and preserve ammunition for a confirmed interaction.

Patch verification checklist

After an update, repeat one controlled test before publishing or trusting old timing advice. Record the target, whether the dart was consumed, whether the status appeared, what interrupted it, and whether network delay changed the result. Separate what was seen from what is inferred. This page intentionally avoids fixed seconds and guaranteed target lists until the behavior is repeatable.

  • Confirm one Sleep Potion still produces five Sleep Darts at the Repackager.
  • Confirm the Blowgun consumes one dart for each fired shot.
  • Check the target in solo and co-op if the result appears inconsistent.
  • Keep a normal escape or rescue plan in case the status fails.

Use and properties

Blowgun spends one dart per shot and can still chip valid targets even when the main value is the potion effect.
